About the Artist
Hi! I’m Jessica Thompson. I’m a multi-disciplinary artist and graphic designer. What does that even mean? Mostly, it means I love learning, pushing beyond my comfort zone, and having an exploratory spirit worthy of Star Trek.
With my art, I tend to cycle through mediums: pen & ink, charcoal, pencil, acrylics, watercolor, and digital illustrations all make regular appearances in my work, and if mixing media gets me where I want to be, I’m all for it. I also enjoy working with textiles, mostly quilting, crocheting, or embroidery.
My inspiration comes largely from the natural world, and I love being outside. Whether I’m gardening, camping, hiking, or cycling, a camera or sketchbook is never far from hand. What I really love is catching a new view or perspective of a well-known subject. It’s a reminder that comfort and familiarity lie in the way we view things, and new perspectives can make the ordinary majestic, terrifying, or even magical.
